Discover the stories of Cannock Park with the new Heritage Trail

Looking for a new way to get active, learn something new and enjoy the outdoors? Why not explore the brand-new Cannock Park Heritage Trail on the Cannock Chase Can App?

This exciting new trail invites individuals, families and walking groups to discover the rich history, heritage and natural beauty of one of Cannock Chase’s most loved green spaces. Developed by Cannock Chase Council in partnership with the Friends of Cannock Park and the Forest of Mercia CIC, the trail forms part of the ongoing improvements to Cannock Park and Cannock Park Golf Course.

Along the route, you’ll find 10 interpretation panels, each packed with fascinating stories, historical facts and information about the park’s landscape, wildlife and heritage. Whether you’re a regular visitor or exploring the park for the first time, there’s plenty to discover along the way.

Three Trails, One Great Adventure

The Heritage Trail experience includes three unique trails, offering something for all ages and interests.

Tree Trail

Take a closer look at the trees that make Cannock Park such a special place. Scan the QR codes along the route to learn more about the different species found throughout the park, their importance to local wildlife and the role they play in creating a greener environment for everyone to enjoy.

Hear Our Heritage

Unlock the stories behind Cannock Park through a series of audio recordings that bring the area’s history to life. Discover fascinating facts about the people, places and events that have shaped the park over the years.

Cannock Park Tales Trail

Perfect for families, this imaginative trail features poetry, animations and colourful characters inspired by the park’s heritage and wildlife. Created in collaboration with local artists, schools and community groups, it’s a fun and engaging way for younger visitors to connect with the stories hidden within the landscape.

Complete the challenge on the Cannock Chase Can App

All three trails can be completed through the Cannock Chase Can App, making your visit even more interactive.

As you explore, collect QR codes, unlock digital content and complete challenges while discovering more about the park. It’s a great way to combine physical activity, learning and family fun while enjoying the great outdoors.

Part of a bigger heritage journey

The Cannock Park Heritage Trail also links into the wider Cannock Chase Heritage Trail, allowing visitors to extend their adventure from the park into Cannock Town Centre. Together, the trails connect key landmarks and tell the story of the area’s rich heritage, from its industrial past to its beautiful green spaces.
